Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Extrusion Line Setter to join a leading manufacturer who are part of a larger group at their site based in Aberdare, South Wales. The company are well known for investing in their employees and are currently experiencing a period of growth due to additional business which is presenting all employees with a chance to progress within the business.
The role is working a continental 2-2 3-2 2-3 rotating shift schedule of days and nights.
Example shift pattern: 2 days 2 off, 3 nights 2 off, 2 days 3 off. This means you get to enjoy a three-day weekend every other weekend!
The Role
Reporting into the Shift Manager, the main purpose of this role is; Tool changing, setting, running and monitoring a cell of up to 4 extrusion lines to agreed quality and speed standards
Duties will include:
- The main duties of the role are to implement the production plan on the extrusion lines while maintaining the quality standards as set on product specifications.
- Organising and carrying out tool changes as set out on the production plan.
- Responsible for producing products to the agreed quality standards
- Completing quality checks and recording results every two hours in addition to the continual visual monitoring of all products being manufactured.
- Ensuring that all work undertaken is carried out in a safe manner not to endanger the individual or any others.
- Maintain housekeeping standards of all machines and area of responsibility.
- Responsible for all of the above for a cell of up to 4 extrusion lines running simultaneously
- To participate in the promotion of a safe working culture on site, ensuring that safety of yourself and others on site is maintained at all times by adhering to all health and safety systems as outlined in the Health and Safety Policy
- To achieve and improve upon departmental and individual health & safety objectives and KPI’s.
The Candidate
- NVQ or equivalent qualification
- 3 to 5 years’ previous experience within a similar role
- Experience of handling tooling
- Flexible approach and good team player
- Use to working in a busy manufacturing environment and can handle pressure well
- Experience of extrusion process
- Plastic or polymers experience
- Experience of working in a continuous improvement environment
- Strong organisational and planning abilities
- Problem solving skills are essential
- Good communication skills
- Good maths skills
- Flexible approach and good team player
The Package
- Salary for Grade 1 Extrusion Setter: £23.8k
- Salary for Grade 2 Extrusion Setter: £26.2k (Grade dependant on experience)
- 25 days holiday or 25 shifts at 11.5 hours
- Company Pension up to 3% contribution from the company
