Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join a well-established, progressive manufacturer based in Powys. The company is a leading provider within their field and are part of a larger group. The role is a days’ based position working Monday-Friday office hours however visiting suppliers both UK and abroad may arise (approximately twice a month).

 

The Role
You will be responsible for investigating, analyzing and resolving supplier quality problems by determining route cause, raising and issuing NCRS, conducting audits and collecting suitable data to allow analysis of defect trends. You will also be responsible for leading continuous improvement projects and will play a key part in developing affective supplier/ customer relationships both internal and external.
Duties will include:

  • Principle contact for all supplier Quality issues and support to operations, Global supplier performance, Technical and R+D.
  • Lead cross functional teams (internal & external) to address non-conformance applying corrective actions using Lean techniques.
  • Analyze data from non-conformance issues to highlight areas of improvement ensuring improvements with returns made.
  • Effectively manage containment of Non-conformances.
  • Oversee supplier quality control activities including, Visits, Auditing (Product and Process).
  • Quality monitoring through PPM levels for supplier performance so as to assist procurement teams in supplier business reviews.
  • Progress chase NCRS with suppliers to minimize the impact on all production lines and supporting functions.

 

The Candidate

  • HND or equivalent in Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering and /or 5 years’ experience within this discipline.
  • Working knowledge of metal pressings, extrusions, die casting, and plastic moulding (including injection, DMC, vacuum forming, etc).
  • A Lean background with experience in process control
  • Auditing ideally within the electronic industry but others will be considered if relevant.
  • Working knowledge of APQP (including PPAP, SPC, Gauge R&R, etc.)
  • VAVE - Demonstrated practitioner.
  • Knowledge of Quality control and problem-solving techniques including A3, 5Y or Ishikawa diagrams.
  • Proven analytical skills using Microsoft tools Excel, Word.
  • Experience with quality standards including ISO9001 and ISO/TS16949 would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Lean or Lean tools is important and any 6Sigma appreciation would be great but not essential.
