Summary
A great opportunity has arisen for a Purchasing Manager to join a well-established company based in Caerphilly, South Wales. The organisation has a number of sites across the UK, employing over 200 members of staff across a number of divisions. The role is a days’ based position working Monday-Friday office hours.

 

The Role
Reporting into the Divisional Director, you will be responsible for the day to day purchasing requirements of the company, ensuring that resources are used effectively and that targets are met.
Duties will include:

  • Selecting suppliers, ensuring you achieve the best possible prices using your negotiation skills
  • Building new and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers
  • Setting budget prices / standard costs
  • Analysing and evaluating purchasing trends to identify savings
  • Evaluating suppliers’ performance ensuring they are meeting the needs of the business
  • Negotiating and agreeing on contracts
  • You will also have responsibility for the Purchasing Department Administrator and Storemen.

 

The Candidate

  • Strong purchasing experience
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to build relationships on all levels
  • Experience of managing personnel
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work under pressure in a challenging environment
  • Knowledge of engineering or manufacturing (ideally)
  • Have a relevant industry degree or CIPS qualification (ideally)
