Quality Engineer, North Gwent, South Wales, £32,000
Summary
A great opportunity has arisen for a Quality Engineer to join a fast paced, progressive manufacturer based within the Gwent area. The role is a days’ based position working Monday-Friday office hours. The position requires some element of travel, visiting customers based within the UK and Europe.
The Role
Reporting into the Quality Manager, duties will include:
- Ensuring quality procedures are applied and maintained
- Auditing quality systems and processes
- Compiling APQP / PPAP (Advance Product Quality Planning / Production Part Approval) Process documentation in accordance with customer spec
- Liaising and responding to customers
- Ensuring 8D reports are comprehensive and closed in a timely manner
- Representing the organisation at customer locations in response to customer concerns, either by presenting at concern meetings, supporting Technical meetings or as part of a hands-on support role (this may involve European travel and occasionally may be at short notice)
- Supporting quality related production concerns efficiently
- Leading and supporting yield improvement projects, applying DMAIC / PDCA (Define, Measure, Analyse and Control / Plan, Do, Check Act techniques)
- Supporting cross functional activities, including feasibility review, PFMEA’s, PPAP (Process Failure Mode and Effect / Plan, Do, Check, Act Analysis), production trials, problem identification and resolution.
- Supporting SPC (Statistical Process Control) activity, providing guidance and carrying out studies as required
- Supporting supplier concerns providing resolutions as required
The Candidate
- Proven computer literacy paired with good communication skills; written and verbal
- Have an analytical approach and decision making skills
- Have the ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
- Knowledge of geometrical tolerances and Engineering drawings
- Understanding of LEAN tools and the ability to implement / utilise
- Great organisational skills with attention to detail
- Can work to work to tight tolerances and times schedules
- Ideally have a Quality / Engineering degree, or Quality related experience
