The Role:

To lead and drive the Environmental, Sustainability and Health & Safety strategy in accordance with the Environmental and Health & Safety policy and procedures, monitor environmental strategies and promote continuous improvement. To ensure best practice is maintained at all times and as a group pro-actively managing Risks & Opportunities. To provide support and direction for non UK sites in the European Group on Environmental & Sustainability measures.

Duties:

• Provide Environmental systems for all operating sites and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory body requirements.
• Manage the company’s IS0 14001 EMS ensuring appropriate controls, systems and procedures are in place to minimise any environmental incidents.
• Audit, analyse and report environmental performance to internal and external bodies as required.
• Monitor compliance with systems and procedures through a formal internal audit programme.
• Responsible for carbon disclosure for all sites.
• Ensure relevant accreditations are managed appropriately. (FSC/RSPO/ECOVARDIS)
• Advise on environmental systems were appropriate
• Lead the Health & Safety Culture across the sites.
• Ensure best practice and legal requirements are adhered to.
• Manage KPI’s and reporting requirements
• Lead site process Safety and H&S Forums and maintain action log statistics.

The Person

• Passion and appreciation for the natural environment. An environmental qualification would be an advantage.
• Lower & Upper Tier COMAH site/ATEX awareness.
• Qualified Chemist, Chemical Engineer or similar scientific based subject.
• Previous experience within a chemical manufacturing environment.
• Minimum (AIOSH/Tech IOSH)
• Good understanding of IS0 14001 standards.
• Understanding of BSI audit procedures.
• Understanding of Environmental legislation.
• Good analytical skills and a logical approach to problem solving.
• Good leadership, Organisational and Communication Skills.
• Ability to prioritise workloads.
• Ability to form working relationships with other managers, controlling similar practically based functions.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint plus company business operating systems.
• Life Cycle Analysis Skills
