Overview
We are currently recruiting an Maintenance Engineer for a manufacturer based in Wellington, Somerset. You will be required to work a continental shift pattern of days and nights.
The Role
To ensure that all Electrical, Mechanical and Product Equipment is maintained to the highest standards. Predicting faults before they have arisen and making improvements to save time and money.
Reporting into the Engineering Supervisor, duties will include:

Complete assigned maintenance on all assets as required, updating CMMS as needed.

Liaise with other functions to facilitate maintenance activities, minimising impact to the business.

Support engineering TPM initiative

Modify assets/equipment to satisfy business requirements, potentially at short notice.

Recommend/implement changes to working methods/procedures as appropriate.

Recommend cost saving initiatives that could provide the business with a competative advantage.

Complete factory startups and shutdowns.
-
Take the lead in problem solving breakdown of assets.

Carry out ‘running repairs’ on equipment as needed to minimise line downtime. Ensure longer term fixes are addressed as soon as line time is available.

Ensure work requests are dealt with promptly.

Support Production Engineers with changeovers, line priming and line runout, where needed to ensure maximum production uptime

Support installation of new projects (capex)

Support upgrades of existing assets (process improvement, continuous improvement etc.)

Ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements.

Ensure Risk Assessments are carried out, documented and activities are completed safely.

Ensure safety systems are checked to the agreed regimes.

Ensure contractor’s activities are conducted in a safe manner.

Ensure all workshop equipment is used in a safe and orderly manner and only by authorised personnel.

Ensure the highest level of housekeeping is maintained within the nominated workshop areas.

Ensure Incident Sheets are made out as appropriate.

Provide support to the training, coaching and upskilling of Operational staff.

Support cross skilling of Engineers.
-
Ensure issue escalation procedure is used effectively.

Support the Engineering call out list

Assist the Engineering Management in establishing and amending operating procedures.
The Person
-
Previous experience in a similar role in manufacturing industry
-
Educated to HNC or equivalent
-
Proven technical knowledge and experience across multiple Engineering disciplines
-
Proven problem solver
-
“Self starter” / proactive
-
Ability to set and prioritise workloads
-
Computer literate
-
Ability to accurately complete paperwork
-
Ability to accurately enter data into a CMMS, or similar system
-
Ability to meet deadlines
-
Ability to form working relationships with other personnel cross-functionally
-
Undertake any additional training and certifications as required by the company to allow you to complete this role (this may include internal and external courses, for example Comp’EX)
