Overview

This is a Senior Management role reporting to a board member and is responsible for: Food Safety and Quality Excellence (Quality Assurance & Quality Systems Management). Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance.

 

The Role

This role provides Technical leadership as part of the Senior Management Team.  To develop and implement a Technical Strategy which covers all the following areas and finds synergies to accelerate maturity using a systemic approach enabling the business to rapidly move forward.

Product Quality & Food Safety Excellence (Quality Assurance & Quality Systems)

  • Ensure a proactive Food Safety Culture
  • There is a strong quality management system, implemented across the business and suitably resourced to meet BRC grade AA standard, ensuring the production of safe food through robust food manufacturing standards
  • Processes and checks are setup to ensure the manufacturing environment and processes conform and exceed the APHA expectations of manufacture
  • There are inspections and systems to support proactive quality issues, to guide production and ensure the impact of these is minimised
  • All required and best in class tools and processes are implement e.g. HACCP, VACCP, TACCP etc

 

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure a proactive Health and Safety culture
  • Reporting of HSE data
  • Ensure there is a H&S system which assesses and demonstrates legal compliance, employee engagement and a strong behavioural safety culture
  • The QSHE function can demonstrate SEDEX ethical audit conformance
  • A system which rationalises our environmental impact and works alongside other key stakeholders to reduce.

 

People

  • To influence and escalate as appropriate to board level, peers, and teams on Food Safety and Quality and Health and Safety matters which present risk to the business
  • Capability and development of the Technical Team to ensure a pipeline of Technical talent is maintained on site.

 

The Person

  • HACCP Level 4
  • Food Safety Level 3/4
  • Lead Quality Auditor qualification
  • Food manufacturing experience
  • Establishing an ‘everyday’ Audit standard – knowledgeable in: BRC, APHA, SEDEX, Key Customer standards e.g. private label customers or grocers
  • Risk assessment, mitigation, and appropriate escalation
  • Clear understanding of the requirements of suppliers, distributors, 3PLs and Co-Manufacturers – able to audit and support their development to meet our standards.
  • Strategic development and deployment within a Technical leadership position
  • Comfortable in systemising, developing, analysing & improving processes.
  • Food product development experience – nutritional understanding a benefit.
  • Cross functional working with all site departments to raise standards and meet site KPI’s
  • Technical advice and direction for Health Safety, Environmental and Customer Interaction team.
