We are currently recruiting for a manufacturer in Bridgend who are looking for a Production Supervisor, the normal hours of work are 37 per week: Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm and Friday 8.30am to 1.30pm. Salary is dependent on experience.
A vacancy has arisen for a Production Supervisor to coordinate the day to day running of the production department against the production plan to enable the smooth delivery of products within pre-defined budgets and timescales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day to day allocation of tasks to ensure the production schedule is maintained ensuring all relevant processes are followed.
- Champion appropriate procedures to facilitate the smooth running of all Production Department activities, including Quality Assurance procedures to ensure the delivery of products that are fault free, fit for purpose and meet customers’ expectations.
- Ensure that the shop floor housekeeping standards are maintained at all times through the production 5S programme.
- Be responsible for the safety of all individuals performing operations on the shop floor; ensuring safe working practices.
- Ensure that all production time allocated to activities undertaken is correctly recorded and present monthly KPI’s derived from this data.
- Manage a small team of individuals with varying levels of experience and technical ability; carrying out appraisals and providing day to day instruction and guidance.
- Coach, train and develop production team members to achieve personal and organisational performance and excellence.
- Be responsible for any disciplinary matters arising within the production team including return to work interviews.
- Develop own product knowledge by hands-on work within the build team enabling the job holder to break down and analyse information effectively; and identify the Root Causes of problems, instigating effective practical solutions.
- Undertake any other projects and duties as requested which are within the competence of the job holder.
Experience and Personal Qualities:
This is a front line supervisory position working with a variety of internal stakeholders to maintain the production schedule through the effective implementation of sensible and clear procedures. You will have previous supervisory experience within a manufacturing background. Hands-on experience in an electrical and / or mechanical discipline would be desirable but not essential.
- Ability to manage a diverse team with varied skills and experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with colleagues and other stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access applications
- Accuracy and a high level of attention to detail with excellent planning skills to organise and delegate tasks and meet daily and weekly deadlines.
- Be able to work under pressure with sometimes conflicting and changing priorities.
