The Role

To lead the production zones to ensure products are produced safely, to the required quality standards at the lowest cost, whilst continuously striving to deliver Operational Excellence. The team must be capable of being flexible and multi-disciplined.

Duties Will Include:

1. Safety/GMP

  •  Knowledge of safety systems, procedures & monitoring their effectiveness related to filling/packaging/line QC operations
  • Ensure all sampling and other QC related activities are conducted in line with existing safety systems and procedures
  • Completing safety check sheets daily & accident/Near Miss Reporting
  • Ensuring operators comply with current safety rules & regulations e.g. PPE / ATEX
  • Ensuring all operators are trained & work areas are always kept clean & tidy in accordance with GMP policies.

2. Quality

  • Ensuring all operators are aware of the required Quality Standards    appertaining to the product being filled.
  • Ensuring all production is performed in conformance with the QA system.
  • Monitoring quality standards throughout the production run.
  • Highlighting & problem solving down to root cause, with the aid of Engineering & QA departments, of all quality non-conformances.
  • Working with the Quality Assurance to continually improve & solve production line issues.
  • Carry out line quality inspection tasks to the prescribed timescale and to the required standard of accuracy.
  • Record details of testing accurately and in full.
  • Complete Line QC paperwork in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Raise rejections if appropriate and clearly identify products/ materials with the necessary stickers.

3. Planning/Organisation/Efficiency/Administration

  •  Ensure data capture equipment is available and in good working order.
  • Line balancing and line hopping to maximise labour utilisation
  • Organising the correct & timely supply of components to the production line, in line with costed rate/costing and to highlight variances (+/-)
  • Organising the correct number of operators to achieve given tasks/jobs.
  • Ensuring all production paperwork/computer entries are completed accurately & in full.
  • Liaise with Planning Team to understand zone workload and labour requirements to deliver.

4. Communication

  • Clear & effective communication of work instructions to the Production Team.
  • Concise, clear and proactive communication with other department’s
  • Briefing team members weekly on objectives e.g. Safety/Quality/efficiencies/waste/lean.

5. Our People and Training

  • Maintaining Leadership of employees under their responsibility.
  • Building a “Team” from a group of individuals & motivating them.
  • Training & developing members of team to perform set tasks.
  • Ensuring all training is recorded & the correct % of multi skilling
  • Handling HR issues/matters as they arise.
  • Engender a continuous improvement culture under the Operational Excellence strategic direction
  • Conducting, documenting, and agreeing mid-year and full year appraisal interviews with members of team.
