Overview
We are currently recruiting a QA Manager for a food manufacturer who are based in Somerset.
The Role
Reporting into the Business Technical Manager & Site Director, you will be leading the sites’ Quality Assurance function ensuring compliance to legal, customer & accreditation requirements. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance matters are dealt with effectively, the site Quality System is maintained and improvements are instigated with a continuous improvement culture.
Duties:
- Maintain document control of the Quality Policies and the Quality Manual system, including site specific info, site general rules and procedures, Quality risk assessment, calibration certificates, etc.
- Manage the Site Audit Schedule program, allocation of resources, non-conformance monitoring and effective close outs. Carry out share of Internal system, and CCP compliance audits
- Manage the site non-conformance system, complaints direct to site & those forwarded, investigation & root causes, corrective actions and close outs
- Oversee Pest control contract, to ensure it is effectively implemented
- Prepare sample test requisition and setting up of test suites for samples sent out for external testing. Match samples sent with results received, and approve invoiced cost
- Manage assurance of External Lab Product results, rechecks. Act on receipt of non-conforming test results, to deduce root cause, and instigate appropriate corrective measures and controls over the non-conforming material
- Provide summation and trending of External Laboratory results, regularly communicating performance and compliance. Prepare Quality Summary Management Reports
- Raise Export certificates, provide compliant paperwork for Veterinary approval
- Respond to customer and consumer enquiries
- Lead customer & accreditation audits
- Support NPD for site, incl. prep of development samples / validation testing / approval of new and amended Labelling/Artwork design (where not covered by Customer Quality Manager)
- Maintain an efficient interactive relationship with site team, Quality Team, and site Quality Assistant, so ensuring communication of issues arising and necessary actions taken, or actions still required, with all mentioned parties
- Work in compliment to the Quality Assurance Manager, and members of the Management Team, with further and varied work as would be requested from time to time
The Person
- Previous experience in maintenance & running of a site Quality Management System in the Food Industry
- Previous experience in a HACCP Team
- Understanding of Food safety, microbiology
- Strong Interpersonal skills, decision making, analytical, communication, training, Quality Vision
- Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
- Experience in plant and environmental cleaning
