Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Plant Purchaser / Buyer to join a well-established, progressive manufacturer who are part of a Global organisation. The company have a growing product base which is supplied to various companies throughout the UK. You will be working Monday – Friday office hours based at their site in Gwent, South Wales.
The Role
Reporting into Head of Purchasing, you will be responsible for all purchasing activities during production, including technical change management and will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining all necessary data in SAP.
Duties will include:
- Verifying the components supply
- Ordering supplier tooling, tracking delivery, updating tooling data
- Providing support to Supply Chain Management area in order to guarantee the components supply for massive production
- Negotiating supplier claims - documents signed supplier contracts
- Negotiating prices
- Liaising with suppliers - monitoring performance and quality
- Supplier Quality Management support in case of problems with suppliers.
- Through data analysis, performance evaluation and benchmarking, identify opportunities and execute action plans to improve supplier performance in terms of cost /purchase price reductions, delivery, quality and service levels
- Detect and analyse possible local material suppliers in local responsibility.
- Support for controlling dpt. (price differences, payment terms)
- Site audits - capacity check
- Budget preparation - MODIAS, parts in local responsibility.
- QRC - negotiations with suppliers regarding cost reinvoicing (up to 50.000 €).
- OES - full responsibility for purchased parts, tools, supplier
- Support to Category purchasing in negotiating and structuring legally binding contracts/agreements
- Checks and monitors baseline prices
- Plans supplier volumes on plant level
- Analyses PPV, proposes corrective actions
The Candidate
- Degree qualified with CIPS qualification
- 3 years in Supply Chain or Purchasing in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of various manufacturing processes
- Experience of managing and delivering complex projects
- Experienced in working with international based suppliers. Must be willing to travel periodically
- Experienced in leading teams would be beneficial but not essential
