Summary
A great opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Improvement Manager to join a well-established, food manufacturer who are a leader in their field. The company have a growing product base which is supplied to various retailers throughout the UK. The role is a days-based position and will be based at their site in Gwent, South Wales.
The Role
Reporting into the General Manager you will be responsible for delivering manufacturing improvements within an FMCG environment.
Duties will include:
- To develop, drive and deliver the site CI strategy using established manufacturing improvement techniques and tools.
- To work closely with the Engineering Department and support the deployment of the Engineering Strategy.
- To deliver substantial, demonstrable and sustainable initiatives that add value and /or remove cost / waste.
- Build relationships, influence and lead on site operational and engineering teams to deliver company CI strategy, initiatives and benefits
- Set and communicate the CI agenda across the site.
- Deliver site CI cost saving targets via on site teams and external support as required.
- Implement and embed standardised ways of working, process controls, problem solving, data capture & analysis and performance steering’s across the site.
- Deliver operational elements of a range of large Capex projects and smaller projects to agreed timescales and targets.
- Champion and deliver activities to support NPD.
- Ownership of Control room, MPL (Lean Driver) and OEE data capture and analysis.
- Lead, champion and deliver CI activities such as SIC, Centrelines, SMED, Autonomous Maintenance and skills transfer.
- Provide management reports on CI activities including benefits tracking.
The Candidate
- Management experience essential.
- Advanced understanding of CI techniques and proven experience of application in a manufacturing environment resulting in measurable performance improvement.
- TPM experience preferable.
- Able to engage and influence senior leaders up to and including functional heads.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to build relationships at all levels especially with operations and engineering teams.
- Able to develop, deploy and track multi-faceted plans that underpin the Engineering and CI strategy.
- Six Sigma Green / Black belt preferable.
- Degree / HNC level.
- Engineering or Process Engineering discipline is advantageous.
- Able to deliver training and mentoring.
