Overview

This is a ‘hands on role’, involving playing an integral part in employee relations and working at an operational level whilst driving business initiatives.

Requirements of the role

  • Support the Group HR Manager taking ‘lead’ responsibility for specific areas.
  • The post holder will effectively liaise with members of the wider HR team and provide all-round support.
  • Support and update the organisation on all employee relations matters
  • Monitor and control absence management
  • Assist in all disciplinary proceeding.
  • Proactive support on the delivery of the HR processes
  • Ensure that Managers and staff are aware of HR policies and procedures and able to operate them effectively
  • Provide support and guidance to Managers on HR and organisation development issues
  • Identify & drive continuous improvements within the Human Resource area
  • Manage the appraisals process
  • Manage the recruitment process – selection, offers of employment through to induction (including agency temps and consultants)
  • Manage the leavers’ process.
  • Manage the monthly KPI’s
  • Liaise with an Occupational Health Advisor for medical examinations and health screening, as part of a wellbeing programme
  • Conduct new employee inductions and onboarding
  • Support the sites Employee Engagement activities including monthly bulletin, employee recognition awards and events
  • Support the HR Manager in changes in terms and conditions of employment and benefits for individual employees
  • Assist the HR Manager with routine administrative duties, including acting as first point of contact for department.
  • Construct, maintain and develop the HR databases
  • To carry out any other duties that may be deemed necessary for the efficient running of the HR Department.

Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence in the analysis of numerical data with the requisite attention to detail
  • Ability to present findings
  • Ability to negotiate and build relationships
  • Ability to work in a small close-knit team on some projects
  • Ability of prioritise workload, time management and dealing with conflicting priorities while being able to meet deadlines
