Overview
We are currently recruiting a Production Zone Leader and also a Production Manager for a FMCG manufacturer based in Taunton, Somerset. You will be required to work a continental shift pattern of Days 06:00-18:00 and nights 18:00-06:00 rotating every 2 weeks.
The Role
To lead and control a production line to produce products in line with customer, regulatory and requirements in a safe, legal, and Quality approach to deliver or exceed calculated costing. Undertake measurement tasks as specified in the works order.
Duties will include:
- Setting up production lines to ensure that production runs in a safe consistent & efficient manner while achieving the required Quality standard and target output.
- Organising the correct number of operators to achieve given tasks/jobs meeting the costed target.
- Ensuring all production paperwork/computer entries are completed accurately & in full.
- Lead the line to ensure the line speed, efficiency and Quality standard is achieved.
- Ensure all operations are conducted in line with quality procedures and established quality standards.
- Carry out quality inspection and paperwork at prescribed timescale and the require standard of accuracy.
- Record details accurately and in full.
- All documentation used is to be checked as being correct to the order being run and the correct issue.
- All documentation is to be completed in full and with correct information
- Production Line Data Collection (PLDC) and PLQA system MUST be completed in a timely fashion for each order and closed when completed.
- Maintain an awareness of the required quality standard of the product being filled.
- Ensure all operations are conducted in line with existing quality procedures and to established quality standards.
- Monitor quality standards throughout the production run.
- Highlight quality issues to the QA Team as required.
- Maintaining leadership of all employees under their responsibility.
- Assigning duties to line operators.
- Building a “Team” from a group of individuals & motivating them.
- Training & developing members of team to perform set tasks.
- Ensuring all training is recorded.
The Person
- Experienced with an FMGC environment
- Competent in the use of a P.C. and operating programs e.g. PLDC, PLQA and Fourth Shift.
- Competent record keeper and able to maintain written notes.
- Good problem solving.
- Qualified (After training) to identify product defects in line with quality standards
- Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivation as needed
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Effective and logical record keeping.
- Organisational skills – good time-management skills (personal and departmental).
- Experience of leading a small team of people (5 - 20)
- Ability to accurately understand and follow instructions
- Basic people management skills
- Ability to accurately complete paperwork
- Physically fit enough to be on feet for work periods of at least 8 hour and to perform basic manual handling duties – bending, lifting, stretching etc
- Ability to understand and follow instructions
- Ability to accurately complete paperwork
- Ability to attain a Level II NVQ in Performing Manufacturing Operations
- Level III in Business improvement Techniques
