Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Buyer to join a profitable manufacturer based in Caerphilly.

The role is based on working Monday-Friday office hours with a salary of up to £30,000.

The Role

The Buyer represents the company in the acquisition of goods and services required to assure on-time deliveries and customer satisfaction.  The primary objective is to identify and obtain the products and services that must be obtained externally.  In accomplishing this, the Buyer will evaluate and determine the best suppler, value and delivery for those products and services.

• Read, understand and breakdown material requirements from engineering drawings
• Source materials following MEAT process
• To be the main point of contact for supplier problem resolution
• Follow the Supply Chain Processes and Procedures
• Monitor orders to ensure materials/services and hires are supplied within contractual timescales.
• Work closely with the supplier to resolve any issues that negatively effect delivery timescales
• Ensure all documentation is kept up to date – Order maintenance and Master Data.
• Process authorised requisitions for indirect and direct requirements ensuring on time delivery
• Ensure the vendor is aware of any special requirements.
• Monitor progress of orders and expediting outstanding deliveries
• Manage supplier corrective action process, liaising with the supplier and internal/external departments to ensure non-conformances are closed out effectively
• To assist Goods Inwards in the identification of unidentified materials i.e. chase copies of advice notes
• To monitor goods received to ensure shortages are cleared on arrival in Goods Inwards
• Collate and assess supplier performance within the given area
• Provide support as required for company stock take

The Person

• Engineering background would be advantageous
• Demonstrate good ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Excellent analytical skills
• Negotiation skills
• Can demonstrate a positive attitude
• Working knowledge of SAGE would be advantageous

• Understanding of MRP
• Strong computer skills to include MS Office
• Experience within a manufacturing environment
