Overview

An exciting opportunity has opened for a NPD / Product Development Technologist to join a well-established manufacturer who adhere to pharmaceutical and food manufacturing practices based in Bristol, Somerset.

You can expect to achieve a salary of up to £30k.

 

The Role

Reporting into the Innovation & Technical Director, along with the support of a strong Technical & Quality team, this role offers the opportunity to work in a wide variety of product areas and will see you liaise closely with Technical, Engineering, Production, Sales and with customers to create new products and manage change across a GMP environment.

 

Objectives

  • Working alongside the Marketing and Technical team in driving NPD decisions across the business
  • To host NPD meetings with internal / external stakeholders as required
  • To develop new products both proactively and in partnership with customers
  • To coordinate and support the NPD process from concept to launch on assigned projects
  • To ensure all projects are managed under the umbrella of a Quality Management System and all change documentation is clearly communicated across the business
  • To liaise with new suppliers or suppliers of new materials to ensure they deliver clear benefits and are introduced with relevant controls
  • Liaise with engineering and Operations to trial new materials / components and present the business case for change
  • Inform the business of any legislation or environmental change impacting on product or materials
  • Artwork checking and approval ensuring legal requirements of labelling are met as required
  • Develop and maintain a Label Copy Sheet library and communicate any necessary label amendments in line with legislation
  • Lead the product set-up and product change administration
    • Create and maintain data matrices for all licensed and biocidal products
    • Create and communicate accurate BOM structures
    • Manage packaging specifications
    • Create and manage pallet specifications
  • Working alongside the customer marketing teams in private label projects including, but not limited to:
    • Proofreading design files and manage the revision process with the artwork agencies
    • Maintaining customer product specifications on online portals

 

Experience:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Project Management experience essential
  • Used to working under pressure and managing multiple deadlines/projects
  • Able to work independently and on their own initiative
  • Highly driven, flexible and approachable
  • Knowledge of NPD processes within a similar entrepreneurial business
  • Can- do attitude, prepared to tackle tasks and deal with new challenges positively
  • Technical product background experience essential
  • Experience of operating within a Quality Management System
  • FMCG experience desirable (not essential)
  • Experience of working with Microsoft and Adobe packages
  • Eye for detail
