\nWe are currently recruiting a Senior Mechanical \/ Electrical Design Engineer for a company based in Llantrisant, South Wales. The successful candidate can expect to achieve a salary of up to \u00a340,000.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Role<\/strong>
\nAs a self-motivated, team player with a positive attitude, you will have end-to-end responsibility for varied design projects working in collaboration with the whole team to deliver projects on time, on budget and to a high standard. Working alongside customers to understand challenges you will provide strong technical support and propose solutions.
\nDuties:
\n\u2022 Use your experience as a hands-on technical leader in the design process providing technical guidance and direction in new product design and continuous improvement
\n\u2022 Ensure systems and processes are adhered to by the design team\/department – planning and execution of development projects are carried out in conformance with the quality management system (ISO 9001)
\n\u2022 Mentoring other members in the Design Team \u2013 technically and design processes (e.g. NPI)
\n\u2022 Work to project plans and manage multiple deadlines and tasks accurately and reliably
\n\u2022 Develop new product offerings to meet the requirements of the commercial\/sales team and market place
\n\u2022 Ability to develop products from initial concept through to volume production \u2013 providing proof of compliance and ensuring DFM (leading at every stage of the process).
\n\u2022 Ensure adherence to technical standards and compliance for product development and design operations
\n\u2022 Contribution to the evaluation of new materials, processes technologies and products.
\n\u2022 Assist manufacturing in all areas of production and continuous improvement of processes
\n\u2022 Ensure the optimal application of technology and engineering resources to meet the business and customer requirements of product platform developments
\n\u2022 Interface with external vendors and researchers to develop new designs and communicate design requirements.
\n\u2022 Design of tooling, specifications, and test methods for evaluating prototypes against engineering and customer use.
\n\u2022 Verification and Validation of products to ensure suitability
\n\u2022 Lead, complete and perform task with minimal direction.
\n\u2022 Create innovative technical solutions which lead to the development and introduction of new technologies, products and processes that support the ongoing business need.
\n\u2022 Lead\/participate in NPI
\n\u2022 Assist in the decision making of third-party suppliers for Engineering Resources (Injection moulding etc)
\n\u2022 Manage third party suppliers to ensure deadlines are met and project plans run smoothly.
\n\u2022 Research new products and technologies, staying current on latest technology trends and solutions
\n\u2022 Identify and propose team training
\n\u2022 Undertake any other specific tasks as detailed by the Technical Director, with the ability to be flexible and adapt to change.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Person<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Degree or equivalent in a Mechanical \/ Electrical Engineering discipline
\n\u2022 Minimum 6 years engineering experience
\n\u2022 Team orientated and provide strong technical support \u2013 problem solver.
\n\u2022 Track record of understanding new concepts and coming up with innovative ideas.
\n\u2022 Demonstrable product design experience \u2013 enthusiasm with a flair for innovation
\n\u2022 Design of a variety of products for high volume manufacture and\/or High cost, low volume manufacture.
\n\u2022 Engineering and Industrial Design experience, balancing aesthetics and form with reliability and performance
\n\u2022 Proficient in the use of 3D & 2D design software
\n\u2022 Experience of prototyping methods: SLA\/SLS, 3D printing, machining\/CNC, soft tools etc
\n\u2022 A sound knowledge of plastics and injection moulding processes
\n\u2022 A sound knowledge of material choice; plastics, metals, thermal applications.
\n\u2022 Good understanding of Mechanical principles.
\n\u2022 Electrical experience \u2013 understand, interpret and create wiring diagrams
\n\u2022 A competent and proven ability to Lead\/work within cross functional engineering teams
\n\u2022 A competent and proven ability to project management \u2013 utilising resource as required.
\n\u2022 A good understanding of working within a quality system.
\n\u2022 Experience of working to required product standards\/product compliance.
\n\u2022 Analytical and problem-solving approach
\n\u2022 Creating BOM\u2019s and cost sheets
\n\u2022 Risk management (FMEA)
\n\u2022 Effective organisational & decision-making skills
\n\u2022 Able to work seamlessly with internal and external teams
\n\u2022 Excellent oral, written, cross functional and interpersonal communication skills
\n\u2022 Demonstrates a positive attitude to change and contributes to new ideas and improved ways of working.<\/p>\n
