Overview<\/strong>
\nAn exciting opportunity has opened for an Engineering Chargehand \/ Engineering Supervisor to join a well-established, food manufacturer based in Newport, South Wales.
\nYou will be responsible \/ working with a small team of engineers and will liaise with them and the Engineering Manager.
\nYou can expect to achieve a salary of up to \u00a333,000 working a three shift pattern of mornings, afternoons & nights Monday-Friday rotating on a weekly basis.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Role<\/strong>
\nTo assist in direction, co-ordination, planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within the area of assigned responsibility.
\nYou will be responsible for maintaining all site services and equipment to ensure maximum operating efficiency.
\nEnsuring best practice is followed in food safety, legality and quality of our product.
\nDuties will include:
\n\u2022 Assist the Engineering Manager in the planning and formulation of the daily engineering programme and delegate tasks accordingly to other engineering staff and Contractors.
\n\u2022 Liaise daily with production management to ensure a smooth production plan
\n\u2022 Assist in controlling expenditures within limitations of project budget.
\n\u2022 Review equipment design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
\n\u2022 Manage the day-to-day contractor control system.
\n\u2022 Repair, service and maintain equipment to ensure maximum operating efficiency. Purchase \/ carry spare parts to repair service and maintain equipment.
\n\u2022 Source additional contract personnel to repair service and maintain equipment as required but within budget.
\n\u2022 Monitor expenditure, identify and communicate adverse cost variations.
\n\u2022 Manage day to day performance and conduct of engineering staff and contractors. Take necessary and appropriate action to maintain the company standards of both.
\n\u2022 Monitor department health and safety and take appropriate action.
\n\u2022 Plan and carry out actions as delegated by the engineering supervisor regarding Health & Safety.
\n\u2022 Attend appropriate meetings when requested and in the absence of the Engineering Supervisor.
\n\u2022 Provide a day based engineering point of contact and continuity in the absence of the Engineering supervisor.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Person<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Must be PC literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
\n\u2022 Strong communicator, both verbal and written knowledge and understanding of health and safety.
\n\u2022 Minimum ONC engineering qualification and time served apprenticeship preferably electrical bias a benefit
\n\u2022 Good report writing skills.
\n\u2022 Knowledge of steam systems and refrigeration.
\n\u2022 Flexible, Team player, able to work with minimal supervision.
\n\u2022 Comfortable working in both an office and factory environment
\n\u2022 Good organisational skills, able to plan personal workload and ensure that colleagues deliver to agreed timescales.
\n\u2022 Experience in operating in a Food Manufacturing environment<\/p>\n
